With two offices, in Cyprus (Nicosia) and Greece (Athens), we aspire to meet all the legal needs of our clients, corporations and individuals, not only in Cyprus and Greece but also in the region of South East Europe and the Near and Middle East.     Dr George Pamboridis was the Panel Coordinator of the Ambassadors' Debate at the 2nd Cyprus Natural Gas Conference organized by IMH on 20th and 21st June 2013, at the Hilton Park Nicosia.

    Τhe Debate between Ambassador Lotam, Head of Energy at Israeli Foreign Ministry, the US Ambassador in Cyprus John Koennig and the French Ambassador in Cyprus Jean Luc Floret presented the view of the participants on the prospects and developments with regards to the hydrocarbon discoveries in the Exclusive Economic Zone of Cyprus and their impact on the Eastern Mediterranean Region.

    ANNOUNCEMENT

    As a result of the unprecedented decision of the Euro group on March 15th 2013, the recapitalization of the two largest Cyprus banks, and the subsequent recession, our firm has decided to suspend the operations of its Limassol office and as of May 1st 2013, all Limassol personnel have been working out of the Nicosia head office. Furthermore, the operations of our London satellite office have also been suspended since April 1st 2013.

    Update in regards to the banking system in Cyprus

    An unprecedented and controversial decision was taken by Eurogroup last week, in dealing with the recapitalization of the two largest banks in Cyprus. Having been unable to recapitalize the two banks directly, Cyprus sought the support of the EU for obtaining a loan.

    As a result, the following resolution measures were taken in regards to the two banks, as of 30 March 2013

    Pamboridis LLC acted as Head Counsel and Project Legal Leader in the negotiations for the purchase of 99.05% of Hellas Sat by ArabSat, from the Greek Telecommunications Organisation (OTE). The transaction was conducted through Arabsat Cyprus Ltd, a 100% subsidiary of Arabsat, and is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2013 after all necessary procedures have been finalized and approved by the competent authorities.

    Ms Yiota Kythreotou Theodorou was elected as the new Managing Partner of the firm with effect from February 1st. Yiota read law at Oxford University and then went on to obtain a Masters degree in Private International Law at Oxford Brookes. She completed her articles with Watson Farley & Williams, London. She is a qualified Solicitor in England and Wales and a Member of the Cyprus Bar. She has been a Partner with Pamboridis LLC since 2008.

    Ms Electra Papadopoulou Makedona was appointed as Head of the Non-Contentious department of the firm with effect from February 1st. Electra studied law in Athens and then acquired a Masters Degree in Company, Insurance and Shipping Law at King's College London University. She is a member of the Cyprus Bar Association. She was a partner at George L. Savvides & Co for 12 years and thereafter joined Andreas Neocleous & Co. She performed her own practice before joining Pamboridis LLC in 2009.

The Forum aimed to provide the leading platform for policy makers, businesses, decision makers and investors to explore the challenges and potentials of natural gas and discuss the crucial ingredients that will enable the establishment of Cyprus as a leading energy supplier in Europe. Dr George Pamboridis was one of the speakers, and he presented the possible interstate cooperation in the energy sector between Cyprus and its neighbouring countries: Greece, Israel, Lebanon, Egypt and Turkey.

    Dr George Pamboridis' new book, titled "Hydrocarbons of the Republic of Cyprus" was launched at a special event on 1st November 2012 at the Cyprus Hilton Hotel in Nicosia. The book was presented and introduced by Dr Ioannis Kasoulides, Member of the European Parliament, and attended by numerous personalities of the political and economic life of Cyprus. The book focuses on the facts surrounding the exploration and exploitation of the gas reserves within the exclusive economic zone of Cyprus.
